Did you Know - East of England?

The East of England is one of the nine official regions of England. It includes the ceremonial counties of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.

Essex has the highest population in the region. Its population at the 2011 census was 5,847,000.

The UK’s first heart transplant took place in January 1979 at Papworth Hospital. A mammoth skeleton found at West Runton, Norfolk, in 1990, is the most complete in the world. King’s Lynn was the first in the UK to install a town-centre CCTV system, from 1987.
