New Fostering Programme
Leeds City Council has been chosen by the Fostering Network to overhaul the way in which it delivers foster care, by adopting a new programme called Mockingbird Family Model. This new approach follows a successful pilot scheme which has been based on a system from the US.
Leeds, along with seven other authorities, will follow the new approach which is designed to help foster families support and share experiences by means of a dedicated hub of trained carers who will be there to offer support to a number of foster families who live close by.
Jersey Fostering & Adoption Panel need new recruits
The Fostering and Adoption panel in Jersey would like to have more members that are Polish and Portuguese on its team, to help represent the diversity within the community. The panel is responsible for considering whether potential foster carers are suitable to foster. They also make recommendations about adoption plans for children. They are also keen for more men to apply.
New Fostering Agency to open in Colchester
A fostering agency in Bromsgrove has launched a book which consists of short stories written by children who are in foster care. Fostering People held a story writing competition last year for children it it’s care which gave them a chance to express their emotions and thoughts through story writing. Due to the high standard of stories, The Little Book of Big Imaginations was put together with the best stories from the competition.
Author of children’s books, Leith Moghli was one of the judges of the competition. Anyone wishing to download the book can do so via icanfoster.com.
